AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR

Who should attend?
The AED course is designed to train individuals who require training in the use of automated external defibrillation. This course fulfils the Dubai Tourism Board and Ambulance Service Centre requirements to train First Aiders on AED at hotels.

What will they learn?
This course will provide the necessary skills to use and AED on a patient that is unconscious and not breathing normally until the arrival of the emergency services. They will gain confidence to use these skills through practical application on manikins.

Introduction

• Basic Life Support Test
• Chain of Survival
• Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Automated External Defibrillation

• AED Algorithm
• AED Use on Adults & Children
• Chest Preparation & Electrode Pad Placement
• Handover to Advanced Care
• Patient Report Form
• Equipment Checks & Trouble Shooting


Course duration
4 hours in total

Assessment
Entry assessment of candidates' abilities in current CPR protocols.
Continuous assessment during the course plus a summative assessment of knowledge and skills at the end of the course.

Certificate and Validity
Automated External Defibrillation certificate from First Aid International *, valid for 1 year.

Entry requirement
Participants should have Basic English skills and must prove that they have a current CPR certificate from an organisation recognised by FAI. Only participants who successfully pass the Basic Life Support Test can proceed with the AED course. Minimum age: 16 years.
