EXTENDED LIFE SUPPORT AIRWAY MANAGEMENT & OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION

Who should attend?
Persons who hold a valid First Aid at Work or lifeguard qualification and want to learn how to use a suction device to clear airways and how to administer oxygen.
After an accident the casualty can be in a condition were circulation is impaired, the blood oxygen content is reduced, or both. Providing oxygen is very beneficial for conditions such as severe bleeding, fractures, asthma, head injuries, drowning and cardiac arrest. In such circumstances prompt administration of extra oxygen by a trained person may significantly increase their chance of survival.

What will they learn?
Students gain skills and knowledge about the benefits of using oxygen and how to apply it safely and efficiently. They will refresh their CPR skills, combine those with the use of a suction pump and oxygen and will learn about implications and precautions. They will gain confidence to use these skills through practical application on manikins.
