PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID DCAS

Who should attend?

This qualification is aimed at those who wish to become a Paediatric First Aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in industry and is approved by the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS).

 

What will they learn?

Learners gaining this qualification will know that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Its topics are regarded by the Early Years Foundation Stage as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel.

 

Course Content

·      The Role and Responsibilities of an Paediatric First Aider

·      Scene Survey and Primary Survey on Infants and Children

·      Managing an Unresponsive Casualty

·      Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (child and infant)

·      Choking

·      Shock including Anaphylactic Shock

·      Bleeding (severe and minor)

·      Treatment of Seizures

 

Course duration

8 hours in total

 

Assessment

Continuous assessment during the course. Assessment on practical abilities of dealing with casualties, no written exam; candidates must show competence to apply learned skills prompt, safe and effective.

 

Certificate and Validity

Paediatric First Aid from Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS), Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) and Safety & Leisure Training Middle East*, valid for 3 years. Wallet-sized card included.

 

Entry requirement

Participants should have Basic English skills.
