Who should attend?
Lifeguards who hold a current lifeguard qualification that is due to be renewed.
What will they learn?
Students will revise and improve their skills and knowledge to deal with emergencies that may occur in their pool facility and the surrounding areas. They will be prepared to enter the assessment and have a formal assessment with the aim to renew their qualification.
Course Content
Day 1 (Preparation for the re-assessment)
• Practise of rescue skills and techniques
• Revision of the lifeguard skills and knowledge
• CPR for adults, children and infants
• 2-operator CPR using a pocket mask
• CPR theory
• First Aid theory and practise
• Spinal Injury Mangagement in theory and practise
• Standard Operating Procedures
Day 2 Re-Assessment
Course duration
2 days (8 hours per day)
Assessment
Practical and oral assessment where candidates must demonstrate competence in applying skills promptly, safely and effectively. There is no written exam.
Certificate and Validity
Internationally recognised Pool Lifeguard qualification from Royal Life Saving Society UK, valid for 2 years.
Entry requirement
Participants must
- Hold a valid RLSS Pool lifeguard qualification
- Have a training record of regular ongoing training and
- Show evidence of attendance for a minimum of 16 hours training with an RLSS trainer/assessor since their last qualification (see lifeguard training modules).
