Who should attend?

Persons who hold a valid First Aid or lifeguard qualification and want to learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The chances of survival in cases of cardiac arrest fade every minute by about 10%. AEDs are used to restore a normal heart rhythm and have proved to be highly effective when applied as early as possible. Therefore every large facility or public place should have AEDs together with First Aiders who are trained how to use them.

What will they learn?

Students gain skills and knowledge to operate AEDs safely onsite. They will refresh their CPR skills, combine those with the use of an AED and will learn about implications and precautions.

·   Practical workshop in the use of AED

·   Multiple choice question test

Course duration

4 hours (½ day).

Assessment

Entry assessment of candidates’ abilities in current CPR protocols.

Multiple choice question test and practical assessments where candidates must demonstrate competence in applying skills promptly, safely and effectively.

Certificate and Validity

“Automated External Defibrillator” certification by Safety & Leisure Training Middle East, valid for 2 years.

Entry requirement

Participants should have Basic English skills and must provide evidence that they hold a current CPR certificate. Candidates must be trained to most up to date standards of CPR protocols. Only participants who successfully pass the Basic Life Support Test can proceed with the AED course. Minimum age: 17 years.
