SLT Spinal Cord Injury Management (Land)

Who should attend?
Anyone who has attended at least a Basic First Aid course and want to expand their knowledge and skills to deal with spinal injuries.

What will they learn?
Students gain skills and knowledge to deal with land based spinal injuries. They learn rescue techniques specific to spinal injuries and how to prevent further injuries. They will gain confidence to use these skills through practical application.

Course Content

• The spine and spinal cord
• The nervous system
• Spinal injuries and recognition
• Principles of casualty management
• Specifics for rescue breathing
• Action for vomit for spinal
• Application of stiff-neck collar
• Secure a casualty on a spine board
• Application of spine board in standing position
• Spinal injury stabilisation

Course duration
4 hours (1/2 day)

Assessment
Continuous assessment during the course; candidates must show competence in applying skills promptly, safely and effectively. There is no written exam.

Certificate and Validity
Spinal Injury Management Certificate of Attendance from Safety and Leisure Training Middle East, valid for 2 years.

Entry requirement
Participants must have at least a Basic First Aid qualification and should have Basic English skills. Minimum age: 18 years.
