SPORTS FIRST AID

Who should attend?

The Sports First Aid course is designed for all levels of sport and recreational activities and can be used to train individuals that require basic first aid skills and training in the management of sports specific illness and injuries. This course meets the recommendation of the HSE Health and Safety at Work (1981) Regulations for Appointed Persons in the Workplace.

What will they learn?

This course will provide first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious or bleeding prior to the arrival of the emergency services.Students will also gain fundamental knowledge and skills in order to recognise and manage common injuries sustained in sports and provide immediate “Non-Emergency” first aid care.They will practise the essential skills in small groups and will apply these in scenario sessions during the course.

Course duration

16 hours in total (2 days)

Assessment

Students are assessed throughout the course by instructor observation of the essential skills. There is also a summative assessment of knowledge and skills at the end of the course.

Certificate and Validity

Sports First Aid certificate from First Aid International*, valid for 3 years.

Entry requirement

Participants should have Basic English skills. Minimum age: 16 years. .
